Lohmann Rauscher Velpeau Thumb Orthosis Classic+ Rhizocast

Designation : Orthesis for immobilisation of the wrist and thumb allowing immobilisation in two directions^.1

Indications :

• Immobilisation in case of post-traumatic and post-operational conditions in the wrist and in the metacarpophalangeal joint of the thumb, as well as in case of ulnar ligament injury (skier's thumb)
• Immobilisation in cases of degenerative changes in the wrist and metacarpophalangeal joint of the thumb (scaphotrapezotrapezoid arthrosis, rhizarthrosis)
• Immobilisation in cases of inflammation of the tendon apparatus of the Hands (tendovaginitis)
• Immobilisation for initial carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS)

Features¹: Rhizocast provides immobilisation of the carpo-metacarpal joint and the metacarpophalangeal joint of the thumb^.2 This orthosis has been designed with an anatomical shape and its modern design combines soft, comfortable and breathable materials^{.5, 6} It reduces joint and ligament stress thanks to its radial, lateral and palmar stabilisation stays^{.2, 3} It is easy to adjust thanks to three separately adjustable straps at wrist level and one strap at thumb level. The individually adjustable thumb strap allows the brace to be adapted to the size of the thumb^{.3, 4}
